How does the iPad compare to netbooks?

In launching the new Apple iPad last week, CEO Steve Jobs took a stand against the popular netbook category, which he dismissed as a poor fit into the space between laptops and smartphones.
“Netbooks aren’t better at anything. They are slow, they have low-quality displays and run… PC software,” Jobs said. “[The iPad] is so much more intimate than a laptop, and so much more capable than a smartphone with this gorgeous large display.”
Netbooks, he said, are just cheap laptops.
Apple has revolutionized product categories otherwise filled with mundane devices. The iPod bought excitement to media players, and the iPhone redefined smartphones. Now Apple is trying to convince users to drop netbooks, and go for the iPad. But do the two devices really compare? [Read the rest of this entry...]

Quake iPhone Review
Since most of you have already played Quake I am not going to comment on the game, but instead the user experience itself.
The developers of Quake iPhone did a fantastic job of porting this classic PC game to the iPhone. The game has a nice frame rate even on the original iPhone. The controls are configured really well (for a touch screen) and don’t obstruct the player’s view.
Quake iPhone is the best port of Quake to a mobile device I have ever seen. Previous Quake ports to Pocket PC for example were buggy and not full functioned. Quake iPhone even allows multiplayer action via wifi with other iPhones and “real” computers. The lack of a keyboard gave my PC competitors a big advantage, but it was awesome to be able to play them.
Quake iPhone is a great port of the original game. If you want to check it out, you can download Quake iPhone on Cydia or Rock. Since this is a jailbroken only app, you won’t find it in the Apple app store.

HOWTO: Crack a Wifi Network’s (WEP) Password
You already know that if you want to lock down your Wi-Fi network, you should opt for WPA encryption because WEP is easy to crack. But did you know how easy? Take a look.
Today we’re going to run down, step-by-step, how to crack a Wi-Fi network with WEP security turned on. But first, a word: Knowledge is power, but power doesn’t mean you should be a jerk, or do anything illegal. Knowing how to pick a lockdoesn’t make you a thief. Consider this post educational, or a proof-of-concept intellectual exercise.
Dozens of tutorials on how to crack WEP are already all over the internet using this method. Seriously—Google it. This ain’t what you’d call “news.” But what is surprising is that someone like me, with minimal networking experience, can get this done with free software and a cheap Wi-Fi adapter. Here’s how it goes. [Read the rest of this entry...]
